May 2025 at North Lake — five trips in since 2020, and the routine is dialed in. KD2MYS and KD2WFX had the HF rig on the air within an hour of arriving, working several contacts while the rest of the crew handled the more important business of campsite setup and fire logistics.
Highlight of the trip: a slow-scan television (SSTV) transmission decoded via the Robot36 app — a first for the group. The image came in clean enough to recognize. Not bad for a wire antenna strung between two spruce trees.
Matt kept everyone fed. Otto kept the fire going and the cooler stocked. A good balance of operations.
